Nelly
Nelly was born on November 2, 1974, in Austin, Texas. His 2000 solo debut, Country Grammar, was a hit, spawning a smash single by the same name, and his unique approach to music has kept his sound fresh and the hits coming. Nelly’s next four albums all made it to the top three on the Billboard chart, with the singles routinely making the top 20 and four of them going to No. 1. When the two-time Grammy Award winner isn’t creating hit songs with collaborators or on his own, Nelly ventures into film and television work, and has appeared on CSI: NY and in the film The Longest Yard.
Chingy
Chingy has enjoyed a lot of success in his career, beginning with the summer 2003 smash hit “Right Thurr.” Chingy was born Howard Bailey Jr. on March 9th, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri. Chingy’s first single, “Right Thurr,” became an overnight hit, peaking at #2 on Billboards Hot 100 chart and #1 on Billboard’s Top 40 and Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks. His debut album, “Jackpot,” spawned two additional Top 3 hits, “Holidae In” and “One Call Away.” “Jackpot” went on to sell 3 million units, making it triple platinum. Chingy’s second album, “Powerballin’,” arrived in 2004 through Capitol records. With the success of the lead single of the same name, “Powerballin’” went on to reach platinum status. In 2006, Chingy released his third studio effort, “Hoodstar.” Leading the album was the single “Pullin’ Me Back, which reached a peak of #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified Gold, selling over 500,000 units. Releasing a few mixtapes here and in between over the years, Chingy signed with Bungalo Records in October 2017, and has multiple projects lined up for 2018, including a new album slated to arrive sometime in the year.
Murphy Lee
Whether you know him as Murph Derrty, the school boy, Mr. Winter Time, or Grandpa Game Tight; Tohri “Murphy Lee” Harper has been wowing audiences all over the world for over two decades with his flirtatious flows and manipulative metaphors. As the youngest member of the multi-platinum selling group, The St. Lunatics, Murphy Lee exploded on the scene holding his own with some of the heavy hitters in the music game. In Jermaine Dupri’s “Welcome to Atlanta” remix, which also featured Snoop Dogg and P. Diddy, Murphy Lee stood out as a shinnying star; representing St. Louis as a city with major talent. He partnered again with P. Diddy and Nelly on his first single “Shake a Tailfeather” which was also featured on the Bad Boys II soundtrack. It soared to the top of the charts to become a number 1 hit, selling over 2 million copies and winning a Grammy. He continued to light up the charts with hits like “Wat the Hook Gone Be” and “Luv Me Baby”- produced by beat bangers Jermaine Dupri and Jazze Pha respectively – both landing on the Top 40 charts from his first platinum solo album Murphy’s Law.
As he continued to grow from a 16 year old school boy to a business man, he quickly adapted to the ever changing music industry and decided to take destiny into his own hands. He parted ways from his major record deal as an individual artist, still signed as a St. Lunatic, and decided to become a student of the business and his own boss. In 2008 Murphy Lee started his own record label, UCME Entertainment, while also opening a restaurant and a clothing store in St. Louis. His hunger for success and love for music grew even deeper as he has since released 4 Albums independently. His last debut was “Murphy Lee VS Jay E (Back to the Basics).” The reunion with Jason (Jay E) Epperson went off with a bang! This project was definitely a battle between beats and bars! Jay E is known for producing multi-platinum hits on Nelly’s Country Gramma album like “Ride Wit Me” and “Ei”.
With a history of being a part of over 30 million albums sold, a Grammy, and countless top 40 hits, the humble, hungry and ambitious Murphy Lee continues to work with the drive of a rookie and the experience of a hall of famer. You can find all his latest projects on www.newmurph.com.
